Well, that was weird…If you need proof that “money is not real,” I submit this chart:
I mean, sure, money is “real,” and I’d prefer more than less of it. But, with a fluctuation over such a short amount of time as this, I’m kind of like “really? Try harder, money!” At one moment, I effectively got a decrease in salary (because I’d converted from being paid in USD to EUR over the past year), the next, a raise.

Going in, you know it will all be illusions and sleight of hand. But during the show, your suspension of disbelief kicks in.

Everything is big in America & the men don't wear designer purses
I’m a Texan living in Amsterdam, so when I come back to the States (Dallas and Austin this time), I noticed things about American that I never did:
People are eager to be helpful, especially when you have a bunch of kids. Everyone offers to help with luggage. A cashier will race back to the shelves to find a replacement for a broken item, or verify the sales price.

Medusa a driving a car, wide shot at dutch angle realistic frank frazetta epic golden hour Current status: we go back to Texas for three weeks in a few days. It’s always nice to slip into the warm familiarity of the States. And, in Texas, the food: tex-mex, BBQ, ice tea with free refills. Lazy days ahead that I need to be watchful for. More days than not (but not all days), you’ve got to get out of the house and do things, or at the end of the day it seems like all that free, relaxing time was wasted.

Some "Coherent Nonsense" for the weekend
Current status: I’ve got a good, old fashioned cold. I’ve forgotten how weird it is: you just find yourself sort of staring at nothing. And the snot. I didn’t have time to self-promote my content. Next time! Also, you know where to find it.

_Current status: there's about two weeks left before the work year is over. I'm lucky that I get a lot of time off at the end of year. VMware gives a whole week. The idea of the world being shutdown and, thus, feel guilt free about doing nothing is more appealing than it's ever been. I'm going to try a slightly new format this issue: "less."_ Suggested Theme Song: Planets by Masaru Imada Trio
Twitter's past self, kubernetes & dev tools markxetsizing, & not the usual nsense
Big one this week. My thoughts on Twitter; what to do with your past-self; CFP'ing; some music recommendations; as always, lots of links - some tasty ones on kubernetes market-sizing (a lot smaller than you'd think). Suggested epigraph: “I woke up this morning Didn’t recognize the man in the mirror Then I laughed and I said, ‘Oh silly me, that’s just me.'"
