I know it sounds very silly if you’re not in the AI bubble. But it really is true, and if you assume there has to be some different motive you’ll be deeply confused by what AI researchers say and do. They truly do believe that there is a reasonable chance that superintelligent AI will kill everyone.

I imagine that there must have been some point in human history when a man first realized that if he carried reading material into the bathroom, he could transform a basic biological process into an extended period of private leisure, and frankly, I would like to know more about this early iteration of man.
