Cote has been a public voice in the developer, DevOps, cloud, PaaS, platform engineering, and cloud-native community since the mid-2000s. He has worked with organizations on digital transformation, application modernization, and building internal developer platforms across roles as a programmer, industry analyst, M&A strategist, and technology evangelist.

His career spans the enterprise software industry: founding programmer at an early online banking startup (FundsXpress, acquired by First Data), software developer at BMC, industry analyst at RedMonk and 451 Research (where he was named one of the top-ranked analysts in the US by the Institute of Industry Analyst Relations), cloud/software strategy at Dell, and product marketing at Pivotal through its IPO, VMware's acquisition, and Broadcom's acquisition. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin.
